"Indian organisations use stronger threat defences than do organisations in other countries. Seventy-two percent of Indian organisations use web security, only 57 per cent of non-Indian organisations do," Cisco said in its white paper on 'Security in India: Enabling a New Connected Era'.
It said that in addition to this 65 per cent of organisations in India use mobile security, compared with 49 percent of organisations outside India.
"The greater use of broad threat defences by Indian organisations may point to a reliance on tools instead of strategies to boost protection...However, our experts caution that tools alone cannot provide complete protection," the paper said.
According to government data, as many as 54,483 cyber security incidents such as phishing, spam and malicious code were reported till November 2015.
The study also found that Indian organisations have adopted more cloud-based tools than organisations in other countries.
"For example, 60 percent of Indian organisations use cloud-based web security, just 34 percent of organisations outside India do. In addition, 51 percent of Indian organisations use web-based mobile security, double the percentage of non-Indian organisations," the paper said.
