Indian cyclists disappoint on Day One of Asian Games

Indian men's and women's track cyclists finished disappointing identical seventh in their respective team sprint events on the opening day of competitions in the Asian Games here today.
The trio of Amrit Singh, Alan Baby and Amarjit Singh Nagi clocked an average speed of 55.689km per hour in the three lap qualifying heat three to finish overall seventh.
Korean team (average speed 60.830 km/hr) won the gold, while China (average speed 60.043 km/hr) and Japan (average speed 59.894 km/hr) bagged the silver and bronze, respectively.
In the women's team sprint event also, the Indian duo of Deborah and Kezia Vargheese clocked an average speed of 49.022km per hour in the qualifying heat three to finish overall seventh.
Chinese team (average speed 54.772 km/hr) pocketed the gold, Korea (average speed 53.427 km/hr) finished with a silver and Chinese Taipei (average speed 52.823 km/hr) settled for a bronze.
