Abhay K, Indian Embassy's first secretary, press and culture, read out poems from his recently published poem collection "Jatra" and past collection "The Seduction of Delhi" during a programme here entitled Monsoon Verses.
In Jatra, Abhay has written on beautiful architectural masterpieces of Nepal's cultural treasures and historical sites which attract tens of thousands of tourists from around the world. Some of the historical sites like Dharhara Tower and Patan Darbar Square suffered major damage in the quake.
Abhay is an Indian poet-diplomat, author of two memoirs and six poetry collections.
The powerful earthquake that hit Nepal in April and May killed nearly 9,000 people, injured 23,000 people and damaged more than 500,000 buildings leaving hundreds of thousands of people jobless.
The government has allocated USD 910 million this year to rebuild infrastructure, public buildings, monuments, and private homes which were destroyed by the earthquakes.
