The house located in a villa compound with illegally partitioned residential units, caught fire yesterday likely due to a short circuit.
The family had a lucky escape but their house was gutted, destroying all their personal belongings, including goods the family had bought to carry home.
Civic authorities are blaming the rising incidents of fire in the city on illegally partitioned houses, Peninsula Qatar daily reported.
Mubarak Fraish, a member of the Central Municipal Council, said the municipalities must roll up their sleeves and take strict action against partitioned houses, both villas and apartments.
