With growing need to provide education to weaker sections of the society, educationists say students aiming at Corporates must also realise their social responsibilities and collectively work toward it.
"Indian graduates are trained to serve Corporates but not the weaker sections of society including women, children, disabled, SC and ST. Educational Institutions especially the Law Schools have to do justice to the needs of other India," said N R Madhava Menon, Founder Director of National Law School of Indian University.
Menon was addressing convocation ceremony of NLSIU students held at a private university campus here today.
He quoted Article 51A of the Constitution which states that it is the fundamental duty of every citizen to strive toward excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity.
"Same should be scribed on the Degrees and Diplomas to make youth of the country realize that they have an obligation (social and personal) to serve the country and weaker sections of society," Menon said.
He noted that the worrying issue our education system not access, but the quality of education.
Menon said it is the "shortage of talent and inability to use Human Resources in a productive manner" that no Indian educational institution has made it to the top 200 educational institutions of the world.
Among others who attended the ceremony are N R Madhava Menon, Founder Director of National Law School of Indian University (NLSIU) Bangalore, eminent scientist prof Yash Pal, and Dr Pradeep Chowbey of Max Healthcare, were also awarded honorary doctorate degrees.
