'Indian Jazz Suites: Fastest Feet in Rhythm', presented by American Centre, Kolkata, is an attempt to build connections through dance between USA and India, particularly in the mini metro cities, Das and Smith told reporters here today.

The duo performed at the inaugural program of Alcheringa IIT Guwahati Spring Fest last night and will perform at Rabindra Bhavan this evening.

Das and Smith will also conduct a workshop at Shishu Sarathi, a voluntary organisation working in the North East for rehabilitation and training of those affected by multiple disabilities, where 45 participants will attend tomorrow.

The duo would conduct another workshop at Shishu Natya Vidyalaya, a children's theatre school that uses theatre for the development of child personality, where 35 participants in the age group of eight to 15 years would attend.

American Centre Kolkata's Deputy Director Rachel Sunden told reporters that the collaboration brings together world-class contemporary American and Indian classical dance and music and cultures and communities together.

India Jazz Suites also include three contemporary Jazz musicians from New York -- Theo Hill on piano, Andrew Atkinson on Jazz drums and Sasha Jacobsem on Upright Bass -- alongwith three Indian classical musicians -- Biplab Bhattacharya on tabla, vocalist Debashsis Sarkar and Jayanta Banerjee on sitar.
