Indian judokas head to Uzbekistan for CWG preparation

An eleven-member Indian judo team, including six women, has left for Uzbekistan to participate in a training program as part of its preparations for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 3.
According to Judo Federation of India General Secretary Man Mohan Jaiswal, the training trip is arranged by the Uzbekistan Judo Federation till June 3 at the Asia Judo Centre in Tashkent.
The team was selected after open selection trials on April 18 and 19 at the Sports Authority of India Centre, in Bhopal The judo competition in the Commonwealth Games will be held from July 24 to 26.
The Indian team (five men, six women and three coaches) left from Delhi May 21.
South Korean judo coach Kwang Sun Yoo was appointed by SAI to train the Indian team for CWG alongwith Virender Singh and Rameshwar Dutt. They have accompanied the judo team to Tashkent for the said training program.
After that, the same team will also go the Budapest, Hungary to participate in the IJF Judo Grand Prix to be held from June 19 to 22.
After the Grand Prix, the Indian team will attend an training program in Budapest from June 23 to 27.
