India and Sri Lankan fishermen associations today concluded third round of talks during which the Indian side presented several proposals dealing with the issues of violation of the maritime boundary and fishing in each other's waters.
"India-Sri Lanka fishermen associations conclude talks. Indian proposals to be considered by Sri Lankan counterparts, who will revert in May," the Spokesperson in the External Affairs Ministry said.
However, the officials did not give details of the proposals given by Indian side.
Representatives of the fishermen's associations in Sri Lanka and India have already held two rounds of talks -first on January 27, 2014 in Chennai and subsequently on May 12, 2014 in Colombo- to find a solution to share the resources in the seas between the two countries.
Meanwhile, two Sri Lankan courts ordered the release of 54 Tamil Nadu fishermen whose arrest by Sri Lankan Navy had threatened to derail today's talks between representatives of fishermen of the two neighbouring countries.
