Indian leather expo opens in Dubai

An event to showcase Indian leather products in the UAE was today inaugurated here by Indian envoy M K Lokesh.
The event showcases India's finest leather products ranging from footwear, garments, accessories, gloves, saddlery and harness.
The expo has been organised by the Council of Leather Exports (CLE) under the Ministry of Commerce and by the Indian Embassy in UAE and is being hosted by the India Trade and Exhibition Centre.
Thirty-four companies from all over India are participating in the event making it an excellent opportunity for UAE businessmen to meet the best of the Indian leather industry.
About 190 brands from UAE have registered to attend the event, including major buyers and industry leaders.
Ramesh Kumar, Executive Director, CLE India said that the UAE is an upcoming market and they want to further enhance India's leather and leather products exports, which is currently around 2.53 per cent out of India's total export of USD 4996.91 million.
Kumar also said that India's leather export has grown manifold over the years and reached a milestone value of USD 5 billion mark during 2012-13 and CLE India shall further propel this figure.
