Indian men, women in semifinals of Asian Squash C'ships

Indian men blanked Singapore while the women finished second in their group to enter the semifinals of the Asian Squash Team Championships here today.
Asia number one Saurav Ghosal and Harinder Pal Sandhu won their matches to take India into the final four at the Hong Kong Squash Centre. Eyeing their maiden Asian title, the top seeds face Malaysia tomorrow in what is expected to be an exciting contest. The Malaysians edged out hosts Hong Kong 2-0 with both matches going into the deciding fifth game.
In the women's draw, defending champions India will have to confront the mighty Malaysians after finishing behind behind Hong Kong in Pool B. The home team takes on Japan in the other semifinal tomorrow.
The trio of World No.10 Dipika Pallikal, Joshana Chinappa and Anaka Alankamony will have to come up with something special against a team boasting of World No.1 Nicol David and seventh-ranked Low Wee Wern. India defeated China and Pakistan today.

Men: India beat Singapore 2-0 in quarterfinals (Saurav Ghosal beat Samuel Kang 11-3 11-5 11-6, Harinder Pal Sandhu beat Marcus Phua 11-6 11-3 7-11 11-9).
Women: India beat China 3-0 (Dipika Pallikal beat Li Dong Jin 11-4 11-6 11-4, Joshana Chinappa beat Gu Jin Yue 11-5 11-3 9-11 11-7, Aparajitha Balamurukan beat Duan Si Yu 11-5 11-5 11-3).
India beat Pakistan 3-0 (Joshana Chinappa beat Maria Toorpakai Wazir 11-13 11-6 11-13 11-8 11-7, Anaka Alankamony beat Muqaddas Ashraf 11-5 11-9 11-6, Aparajitha Balamurukan beat Sammer Anjum 11-5 11-7 9-11 11-6).
