Indian Mission in Nairobi monitoring situation, staff safe

India today said it was monitoring the situation in Nairobi, where a terror attack in a mall has left at least 22 people dead, and all its mission staff were reportedly safe.
Following the reports of terror attack and taking of hostages in a mall in Nairobi, Indian Mission is closely monitoring the situation, official Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs said.
Indian Mission is in close touch with Kenyan Government and leaders of Indian community, he said adding all members of the Mission are reported to be safe.
"Reports are coming in of a terror attack and taking of hostages at a shopping mall in Nairobi. The official figures of injuries and deaths are not yet available," he said.
A Kenyan Red Cross official said at least 22 people have been killed in the attack on the mall.
"Our High Commission is closely monitoring the evolving situation, have been visiting hospitals and is in close touch with the Kenyan Government and leaders of the Indian community. All members of the High Commission are reported to be safe," he said.
