An Indian national has been arrested by Sri Lankan custom officials at the international airport here for allegedly attempting to smuggle into the country 4 kilograms of gold biscuits valued at around Rs 40 million.
The suspect, who had arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport from Chennai, aroused the suspicions of custom officers at the airport.
Upon inspection the officers found forty 100 grams gold biscuits concealed in his trouser pockets, the Colombo Page reported today.
Further investigations are being conducted by the customs officials.
