Indian national arrested in Nepal for carrying gold illegally

An Indian national has been arrested in Nepal on suspicion of smuggling gold worth Rs 1 million.
Niranjan Paul of West Bengal was arrested with 32 tolas or 373 gram of gold from Maldhunga area of Baglung district in western Nepal, according to Nepal Police Headquarters sources.
Police arrested Paul on suspicion of his involvement in smuggling of gold as he was carrying large number of gold biscuits without a valid bill, an official said.
Law prohibits anyone to carry such a large amount of gold without valid bill.
Paul has denied charges saying that he was carrying the gold belonging to the customer as he has been working as a jewellery trader in the district.
