Indian to head N operators forum WANO's Tokyo centre

A former Chairman and Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Jain was elected unanimously as chairman of the Governing Board of WANO, Tokyo Centre at a meeting in the Japanese capital yesterday.

WANO is the international nuclear organisation of utilities and operators committed to work for the enhancement of safety and reliability to the next higher level.

All utilities which operate nuclear power plants are member of WANO, which is headquartered in London and has four regional centres in Tokyo, Moscow, Paris and Atlanta.

Jain will represent WANO Tokyo Centre at the main WANO Governing Board, London.

Besides NPCIL, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power, China National Nuclear Corporation, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Taiwan Power Company and 13 Japanese utilities are affiliated to the WANO, Tokyo Centre.

Jain superannuated as NPCIL CMD last month.
