A team of Confederation of International Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CICCI) today visited ICP Attari and found truck loads of gypsum from Pakistan were being unloaded in waterlogged areas by the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), which is the land port's custodian.
The Chamber had faced similar situation last month and brought the rain menace to the notice of CWC and Land Port Authority of India (LPAI) and requested them to construct a platform or mark paved area for unloading of gypsum, said trader Rajdeep Uppal.
CICCI has blamed the port authorities for lapses and urged them to compensate the loss.
Gypsum imported from Pakistan has great demand in India as it is the main ingredient in cement manufacturing and also used in manufacturing paints.
