Indian value system can be an example for the West: Hooda
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that India's gift to the West was the philosophy of non-violence and passive resistance as espoused by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Lala Lajpat Rai.
At an event to mark the inauguration of the new premises of British Council here, the CM was taking part in the discussion, 'What role does culture play in UK-India relations in the 21st century'.
"The Indian cultural heritage is very vast and deep, which can be imbibed by the British.
"The Indian value system, along with its strong family ties, can serve as an example for modern British society," he said, according to an official release.
The CM said that his government had launched joint educational programmes with the British Education Council (BEC) at BPS Women's University at Khanpur Kalan.
