Indian women boxers shine in AIBA Tournament in Serbia

Indian women boxers packed quite
a punch at the 5th AIBA Nations Cup in Ruma, Serbia, notching up a rich haul of 4 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals at the tournament.
The tournament featured simultaneous competitions in the senior, youth and junior categories and Indians made an impression in all three age groups.
Seema Punia (+81kg) and Pwilao Basumatary (57kg) fetched gold medals in the senior category. On the other hand, Soniya
(48kg) and Manisha (60kg) clinched the yellow metal in the youth and junior competitions respectively.

While Seema out-punched Ukraine's Elizaveta Sayushkina 3:0, Basumatary thrashed Algeria's Manel Meharzi 3:0.
In the senior division, Meena Rani (81kg) and Bina Devi Jaobijam settled for silver medals after losing in their respective finals.
The silver-medallists for India in the youth category were
Sarita Singh (57kg), Siwi Boora (60kg) and Nisha (64kg).
Among the juniors,
Ramya Guduru (48kg), Parveen (52kg),
Astha Pahwa (70kg) and Niharika Gonella (80kg) brought home
silver medals.
This year's Nations Cup has been the biggest so far with participation from 34 nations belonging to all five AIBA confederations.
In all, 151 Elite, 60 Youth and 45 junior boxers took part in the event.
