The 25-year-old youth was accused of groping the Bahraini girl as she tried to take a trolley at the mall in Muharraq in April.
The man denied the allegation and claimed the girl made up the story following a row over a shopping trolley.
He said the girl approached him and asked him for a trolley. He told her he could not give her a trolley because he was holding it for another customer.
"He then said the girl complained to her mother when she was not given the trolley and police arrested him," the Gulf Daily News had reported earlier, quoting the accused's lawyer Saleh Al Nashabi as saying.
In its latest report in the case today, the newspaper reported that the worker has been released from custody after his May 4 arrest while investigations continue.
It, however, did not cite a specific reason for his release. At the time of his arrest, his lawyer had said security camera footage from the mall would be submitted to court as evidence.
