Oil major IndianOil Tuesday airlifted 25 barrels of kerosene from here to quake and tsunami-hit Indonesia as part of India's efforts in extending relief to the country.
Five kilo litres of the fuel packed in 25 barrels was sent following an 'urgent request' from the National Disaster Response Force, IndianOil Executive Director (Tamil Nadu) R Sitharthan said in a press release.
IndianOil coordinated with senior commandant of the disaster response force Rekha Nambiar and the airport authorities here to deliver the kerosene for airlifting to Indonesia, the release said.
Over 1,400 people had been killed in the twin quake-tsunami disaster that hit Indonesia last week.
India has launched a massive operation to provide assistance to the victims, dispatching two aircraft and three naval ships carrying relief material to Indonesia.
