The end of the year is the time most Indians love to travel and this year, Chennai has topped the list of the 10 most searched domestic destinations, while Koh Samui in Thailand has emerged as the number one overseas choice, according to a survey.
This time, Christmas and New Year fall on a long weekend, encouraging people to celebrate the day with family by travelling to a few top-searched destinations, according to a report by Hotels.Com.
According to the report, Chennai was the most searched destination with 137 per cent searches, followed by Colva in Goa with 132 per cent searches.
The report is based on searches made on Hotels.Com, from January-November this year for check-ins planned during December 24-28, 2015.
When it comes to overseas destinations, most Indians want to visit Koh Samui in Thailand, that topped the list with 92 per cent searches, followed by Hong Kong with 72 per cent searches.
Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur ranked third with 62 per cent searches, followed by Krabi Province in southern Thailand with its natural attractions such as white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, extensive coral reefs, caves and waterfalls, with 52 per cent searches.
London, with 50 per cent searches, stood fifth in the top 10 list of destinations where Indians want to holiday during the year-end.
