"There are two times more customers travelling during Holi this year compared to last year due to extended Holi weekend. High VFR (visiting friends and relatives) travel is observed this year with growth in flight bookings by 1.65 times more than growth in hotels," online travel agency MakeMyTrip said in a report.
It said, Goa continues to be the most sought after domestic destination among Indians during Holi season.
Mumbai-Delhi and Bangalore-Delhi are the most travelled flight routes with 172 per cent and 168 per cent growth respectively during this Holi compared to last year, it said.
The report also revealed that there has been significant growth in hotel bookings for Holi for specific destinations like Mathura in Uttar Pradesh (107 per cent) and Pushkar in Rajasthan (120 per cent).

On overseas holidays, short haul international destinations are being preferred during this period.
Dubai and Thailand continue to be the top international travel destinations with 188 per cent and 117 per cent growth respectively.
During the Holi weekend, Indians travelling abroad are spending four times more than domestic travellers, the report said.
