While the Indian team is headed by Commissioner (Ganga) in JRC Devendra Kumar, the Bangladeshi side is led by its Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) member Mir Sajjad Hussain.
The focus is to work out the ToR in the two-day meet so that the joint study begins at the earliest.
While assessing impact of the dam, the joint team is likely to examine the location of the dam and its impact on the catchment areas, flora and fauna, biodiversity and ecology, sources said here.
India has already assured Bangladesh that it will not do anything in connection with the dam that will hurt the interests of the lower riparian country.
According to NHPC, which is executing the Tipamukh Multipurpose Project proposed to be developed on Barak river near Manipur-Mizoram border, 500m downstream of the confluence of the river Barak with Tuivai, in Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The project envisages contruction of 162.80 meter high rockfill dam with annual estimated generation of 3805.74 MU in 90 per cent dependable year with an installed capacity of 1500 MW (6x 250 MW).
Two teams from Dhaka - a parliamentary delegation and a group of journalists - had visited the site to see the progress of the Tipaimukh dam since 2009.
