"We have been given a two-acre plot by a farmer in Nikko city. We plan to build a grand memorial of Netaji there as Japan was his 'karma bhoomi'. Along with his memorial, we will also build a memorial for 53 lakh Japanese and Indian soldiers who died in the second World War," Balasaheb Deshmukh, Founder and Trustee of Indo Japan Foundation told reporters here.
He said another memorial will be built for the "crores of people who lost their lives in the second World War".
"We request to bring back the ashes of Netaji, which are safely kept in Renkoji temple in Tokyo, to his motherland," he said.
Deshmukh claimed he had spoken to BJP president Amit Shah and Union minister Piyush Goyal about the memorial project and that they have agreed to support the cause.
"We will lay the foundation stone of the memorial project in about two months, once we get the confirmation of the attendees," he said.
