A six-member joint team of Indian and Nepalese officials was today constituted to look into encroachment of land to be used for construction of new road on Indo-Nepal border.
The joint team would tour the border area on April 24 to review encroachments in the land in Bihar's Kisanganj district on which the road is to be built, official sources said.
A total of 726 km road would be constructed on the Indo-Nepal border and out of this 98 km would be in Kisanganj.
The decision to set up the committee was taken at a meeting of officials of Kisanganj district with officials from Nepal's district of Jhapa, the sources said.
Kisanganj District Magistrate Aditya Kumar Das headed the team from the Indian side, while Nepal's officials team was led by Jhapa district head Narendra Raj Sharma.
The officials also discussed issues related to illegal trade of animals and circulation of fake currency by anti-social elements, the sources said.
