Indo-Oman joint military exercise concludes

The troops of Indian and Oman armies today concluded their exercise 'Al-Nagah-II 2017' in Bakloh belt of Himachal Pradesh which was aimed at strengthening the military ties between the two countries.
During the 14-day joint exercise, the troops of the two armies shared expertise in counter-insurgency and other operations in various terrains like snow-bound areas and dense woods.
The exercise of the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman was declared closed by Major General Naveen Kumar Airy of the Indian Army began with the opening ceremony at Bakloh today, PRO Defence Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
In his closing remarks, Airy, after addressing the participating contingents, appreciated the professional conduct of the training which has resulted in instilling confidence in each other's capability.
The exercise also demonstrated the determination of the two armies in working closely with each other to eradicate the menace of terrorism in all its forms, Lt Col Mehta said.
The second edition of Exercise Al Nagah-II commenced on March 6 at Bakloh which is in continuation of a series of joint exercises between the two armies.
The first joint exercise between India and Oman was held in Oman in 2015. The Joint Exercise was aimed to share expertise in counter insurgency operations and demonstrated the growing relationship between two countries, he said.
The joint military exercise shall be yet another milestone in defence co-operation and military relations between the two countries, the officer said.
