Two members of a gang were arrested today for supplying bogus guarantees and sureties in court cases.
Superintendent of Police O P Tripathi told reporters that police recovered 35 fake mortgage books and fake seals of Tehsildar from the arrested men.
They had given about 218 bogus guarantees in the court cases so far, he said.
Manmohan, resident of Chapla Khedi in Dewas district, had given a guarantee of Rs 25,000 in a case involving one accused Durga Prasad.
The guarantee was found to be bogus after it was investigated by the Dewas Tehsildar.
Following Manmohan's arrest and his interrogation, the gang leader Raju alia Rajesh Thakur of Ujjain, who made the fake land mortgage books, was picked up.
Police also suspect some lawyers as being part of the racket. Further probe is on.
