Having idolised Feluda aka Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Roger Moore and Daniel Cliff as James Bond respectively, child artist Ahijit Ghosh feels upset for not squeezing enough time to read Gogol's exploits in books before enacting the ace kid-sleuth, Samaresh Bose's most popular child hero in Bengali children's literature.
"I enjoyed my role set in the backgrounds of a rural mansion during Durga Puja. I love long drives with family especially during Puja time and land up at a place with 'pujo pujo' fragrance," the elite city school student told PTI during a promo of Gogoler Kirti.
Ahijit, who thinks reading the hard cover classics is as much important as watching Superman on TV, says "I am familiar with the settings and the ambience but not with the original story as depicted by the writer. Though the director explained the shots and I delivered as shown by her."
"I think as our time space shrink, as we get saddled with increased home task, we lose out on the Bengali children's classics front. Yes, I understand that but with such a powerful cast and story line and atmosphere etc etc Gogoler Kirti will be liked by children of my age and even olders and adults," the precocious actor said.
Comparing his previous work in Gogoler Kirti, where he had been sent to Puri to unearth an antiques racket bringing back the flavor of the era of LTCs and Puja numbers and sleeper coaches, Ahijit said, "I miss out on these scores. I can't see anyone having the same travel experiences now. But I connect to the character."
"This is the most important side. To connect, you need to identify. I have seen I can identify a lot with Gogol despite we two apparently belonging to different time zones - 80s and now," the 11-year old boy with matured talks despite his age, reasoned.

Recalling his shooting experiences with Indraneil Sengupta, his helping hand here, Ahijit said "Indraneil uncle never gets impatient if I mug up the lines or fail to give expressions in a crucial moment. He would instead wait with all the patience of the world as the whole unit will try to bring me on track."
"He never looked like he is such a star," the child actor said.
Produced by Ishanee Films Gogoler Kirti is the debut work by Director Pompi Ghosh Mukherjee. It is a sequel to Goyenda Gogol, a thriller based on two stories from Samaresh Basu's Gogol Series-Mahish Mardini Uddhar and Rai Raja Uddhar.
