The expansion has resulted in coverage of over 380 towns and 43,500 villages in the region which has a massive subscriber base of 61 million mobile phone users, B L Venkateshwar, CEO of Indus Towers (Maharashtra and Goa Circle), told reporters here.
"Building upon its presence of over 1,13,000 towers in the country, Indus plans to add around 2,000 more towers nationally of which around 20 per cent are expected to be in the Maharashtra and Goa Circle," he said.
The largest telecom tower company in the world has been promoted under a joint venture between entities of Bharti Group, Vodafone India and Aditya Birla Telecom. Set up in 2007, the company renders passive infrastructure services to telecom service providers in the country.
