Industrial contribution in Jharkhand SGDP dropped: Congress

On the eve of Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das' scheduled visit to the USA to woo investors, the Congress today described these efforts as eye-wash, saying Industrial sector's contribution in the State GDP has dropped by 17 per cent in 2015-16.
While the contribution of Industrial sector was 54 per cent a year before, it slid to 37 per cent in 2015-16, state Congress President Sukhdeo Bhagat said.
Only the government could throw a light on why this happened, he told a press conference.
The chief minister has toured Mumbai and Bengaluru to convince investors but did not take any step to revive feasible sick industries on the verge of closure, he said.

"Neither any investment was made nor any development work was carried out during the last two years of the present dispensation," Bhagat said.
Reliance group that had shown interest to invest in Energy section has winded up its project and Abhijeet Group of industries had been closed due to indifferent approach of the government, he claimed.

"Actually", he said, "the state did not have adequate infrastructure for setting up industries".
A conducive atmosphere including proper law and order was needed to attract investment but the state lacked on these fronts, Bhagat said, adding that 28 murders had been committed in the last one month in Ranchi itself.

"The capital is considered the mirror of a state but the way a patient was served food on the floor of a reputed hospital exhibits the insensitivity of the government," he said.
The JPCC leader was referring to an incident in which a female patient was served food on the floor of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, on Wednesday.
To please big corporate houses, the government has chosen to amend Chhotanagarpur and Santal Paragana Tenancy Acts through Ordinance at a time when the state Assembly session was on, he alleged.
"The state Chief Minister is a good disciple of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as they both are adept at not fulfilling promises," he said.

A host of state leadership of the party including former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay and Rajya Sabha Member Pradip Kumar Balmuchu took a rally in the steel city here today.
