Jazeera, who hogged limelight through her solo protest in the state capital and New Delhi, began her sit-in before Kochouseph's house on Monday demanding either he provide the sum of Rs 5 lakh offered as a reward for her struggles against sand mafia or withdraw it by making an open announcement.
Addressing a press meet here today, Kouchouseph said he had earlier said the amount would be provided as bank deposit in the name of Jazeera's children. However, he was withdrawing the offer and the amount would be donated to children's charity.
Jazeera, who hails from Kannur in north Kerala, had come here from Delhi earlier this week with her three children ending a four-month sit-in at Jantar Mantar following a promise from Chief Minister Oommen Chandy that stern action would be taken against illegal sand miners in the state.
The businessman had also announced a cash award of Rs five lakh to Sandhya, a homemaker who single-handly challenged the blockade by LDF opposition in front of the official residence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Thiruvananthapuram as part of their stir demanding his resignation in connection with the solar panel scam.
