'Industries fleeing from Punjab due to bureaucratic wrangling'

The Punjab Congress today alleged the "non-cooperative attitude" of the SAD-BJP government has led major industrial units in the state to shift their bases to Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Referring to Talwandi Sabo thermal power plant, party's state unit president Pratap Singh Bajwa said that "the project was delayed due to bureaucratic wrangling and high power tariffs".
He claimed that the promoters of thermal plant were involved in legal complications with Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) and state government has failed to bring the two companies at negotiation table.
Bajwa said that about 80 per cent hike in power rates in the past six years has forced people to shell out major part of their earning on electric bills and industrial units are fleeing from Punjab.

The Congress leader said that SAD-BJP government was providing only four hours power supply on alternative days to agriculture sector, making situation worse for the poor farmers.
