An official spokesman said the manufacturer and seller (distributor or retailer) of the infant milk products were likely to be booked for violating the Infant Milk Substitute, Feeding Bottle and Infant Food (Regulation of Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 1992.

Commissioner, Food & Drug Administration, Haryana, Rakesh Gupta said the Act prevents deliberate advertisement and promotion of infant milk products in the market and added that such products were prohibited for children below two years.

"The Act discourages promotion of milk substitutes as an alternative to mother's milk," he added.
