People suffering from mental illness are entitled to receive legal services free of cost, and health care under the Mental Healthcare Act, which protects their right to live with dignity, DLSA secretary Neelu Mainwal said at a meeting with students here.
Medical services to patients should be given at affordable cost and in sufficient quantity, and there should be no compromise in quality, the official said here.
"Treatment should be delivered without any discrimination on the basis of gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion, culture, caste, social or political beliefs, class, disability among others," Mainwal said
"The problematic part is only 10 per cent suffering from mental disorder take treatment due to stigma. Work related stress is causing mental disorders which is on the rise," he said.
