Ingram Micro unveils insurance,download combo-plan for mobiles

Tech products distributor Ingram Micro today launched 'Cover Plus', which offers benefits like multimedia downloads, anti-virus protection and handset insurance.
Starting at Rs 499 depending upon device's retail price, the Cover Plus pack offers benefits up to 110 per cent of the pack cost, it said in a release.
The benefits include multimedia downloads from content provider Hungama and anti-virus protection suite from Trend Micro, besides insurance at no extra-cost, it added.

Vuclip sells majority stake to Hong Kong-based PCCW Group * Media and entertainment group PCCW today said it has acquired a controlling stake in Vuclip for an undisclosed amount.
In line with PCCW's strategy to address opportunities in the increasingly digital world as consumers embrace digital lifestyle, PCCW Media has entered into an agreement to acquire a controlling majority interest in Vuclip, it said in a release.

The US-based mobile video and media firm's platform at present operates in six countries with over 7 million mobile subscribers per quarter, it added.

Prodapt completes acquisition of VDVL Consultants * IT and engineering services firm Prodapt has completed the acquisition of The Netherlands-based telecom company VDVL Consultants in an all-cash deal.
The company has not disclosed the value of the sum transferred as part of the acquisition.
"Prodapt has completed the acquisition of VDVL Consultants, in an all cash deal. With the completion of the acquisition, Prodapt becomes a leading global services company in the telecom vertical", city based Pradapt said in a statement.

LIC launches Jeevan Lakshya, participating non-linked plan * State-run insurance behemoth LIC today launched 'Jeevan Lakshya', a participating non-linked plan that offers a combination of protection and savings.
Jeevan Lakshya provides for Annual Income benefit that will help to fulfil the needs of the family, primarily for the benefit of children, in case of unfortunate demise of policyholder any time before maturity and a lump sum amount at the time of maturity, LIC said in a release.
