Rohit, who fractured his finger during the England ODIs, was intitially ruled out for four weeks but though his finger healed, the top-order batsman's shoulder continued to give him trouble.
"To set the fractured bone, two pins had been inserted inside the hand and now as per my knowledge goes, it has been taken out. Rohit is hand is shaping up fine," a BCCI official told PTI today.
India are likely to continue with the opening combination of Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan, and Murali Vijay may be persisted with as a back-up option.
The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led India is scheduled to play five ODIs and a one-off T20 before heading into the Tests and Rohit is expected to return for the Board President XI against the visiting team in the three-day warm-up match in Kanpur on October 25.
Making his ODI debut in 2007, Rohit is a veteran of 124 ODIs and 42 T20 Internationals along with seven Test matches.
