Haryana's main opposition Indian National Lok Dal has convened a meeting of the party's working committee in Kurukshetra on May 2 to discuss various issues of public importance, state unit chief Ashok Arora said today.
The meeting will be attended by INLD MPs, former MPs, sitting and ex-MLAs, among other office bearers.
He further said that among the prominent issues to be discussed are the 'jail bharo agitation' that is being launched by the party on May 1, to put pressure on the Centre for getting the construction of the SYL canal completed.
Arora said that during this time of the year when wheat crop is ready for harvesting, about 2,000 acres of wheat has been destroyed due to sporadic fires recently at various places in the state.
"The INLD will discuss and outline the mode in which the government can be convinced to give relief to the affected farmers by granting them adequate compensation for crop loss," he said.
The meeting will also discuss alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Arora said.
