Haryana's main opposition party INLD has demanded a special session of the state assembly to discuss agitations by various associations of employees against the BJP government in the state.
A delegation of the INLD led by party MP from Hisar Dushyant Chautala and also comprising of State unit chief Ashok Arora and party MLAs submitted a memorandum to the Haryana Governor and also demanded roll back in the hike in VAT on diesel effected by the BJP government in the state last week.
Later, Chautala told reporters here that the Manohar Lal Khattar government had burdened the people by hiking the VAT.
"Earlier, the power tariff was hiked and now the VAT on diesel has been increased which will have cascading effect on prices of other commodities as well," he claimed.
Both Chautala and Arora alleged that different sections of employees, including guest teachers, computer assistants, besides traders, farmers, and ex-servicemen were on streets and agitating against the "anti-people" policies of the government.
Arora said that when people protest in a democratic manner against the "anti-people" government, "they have to face lathicharge."
Meanwhile, Arora said two resolutions pertaining to rollback of VAT and demand for special assembly session were passed at the state executive meeting of the party here which was also attended by party MLAs.
On Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra being named as the brand ambassador of the 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' campaign by the Haryana Government, Dushyant Chautala said a sportswoman who had made the state proud should have been named in her place.
