INLD leader booked on charges of harassing wife for dowry

A district-level leader of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has been booked after his wife accused him of harassing her for dowry and pressuring her to establish sexual relationship with another man, police said today.
The victim filed a case against Kesar Dagar, former president, INLD sports wing, Palwal, at the women police station in sector-16 yesterday.
The complainant said she got married to Dagar, a resident of Faridabad, on May 18, 2014 and he has been harassing her and demanding Rs 1 crore and a vehicle as dowry since then.
In the complaint, she also claimed that her husband used to pressure her to establish sexual relationship with a "close relative" of his, who is a teacher and used to visit their house frequently.
The woman has also filed a written complaint with the police commissioner and district education officer.
He has been booked under sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), of the IPC, police said.
Sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the IPC have also been slapped against him, they said.
