INLD MLAs suspended for creating ruckus in Haryana Assembly

First day of the Haryana Assembly Budget Session today witnessed disruptions and noisy scenes while a SAD MLA and opposition INLD legislators, who were protesting an adjournment motion regarding conviction of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, were suspended for a day.
Speaker Kuldeep Sharma was forced to adjourn the House for fifteen minutes, each on two occasions, as pandemonious scenes prevailed in the Assembly, whose budget session started here on Friday.
Congress MLA Sampat Singh moved an adjournment motion regarding the conviction of Chautala in the JBT scam.
Initially the INLD MLAs, who also found some support from senior BJP leader Anil Vij, were protesting the adjournment motion moved saying that the matter was sub-judice and could not be taken up in the House for discussion.
Later the opposition legislators started raising slogans inside the Assembly to protest the alleged casteist remarks passed by a ruling legislator, for which he had to apologise.
All the 27 INLD MLAs including senior leaders Abhay Singh Chautala, Ashok Arora, Ramphal Majra, Bishan Lal and Mohd Illyas besides their ally's lone MLA of Shiromani Akali Dal, Charanjit Singh, rushed to the Well of the House, forcing the Speaker to suspend them for the remaining period of today's proceedings.

Former Minister Sampat Singh, who had switched over to the Congress in 2009 after serving the INLD for over 32 years, had moved the motion for an adjournment of the business of the house under Rule 66 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Haryana Legislative Assembly for discussing a matter of urgent public importance regarding the conviction of Om Prakash Chautala, Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Assembly.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala told the Chair that the opposition members were trying to mislead the House that the JBT scam matter pertaining to Chautala was sub-judice, saying that conviction and sentencing had taken place and only the INLD President's appeal was pending.
He said, moreover, Sampat Singh's motion had laid stres on the importance of probity in public life by pointing out that especially in the domain of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies that those convicted by the court should not hold any public office.
