Innovation Challenge Winners to work for cutting pollution

The University of Chicago and Delhi Government has announced three winners in the first- of-a-kind crowd sourcing competition to cut pollution in Delhi.
Winners of the Urban Labs Innovation Challenge: Delhi, a project of the Tata Centre for Development that is supported by Tata Trusts, together received more than Rs 2 crore.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was present at the event to validate the winners and their work.
One of the winners is Chakr Innovation will pilot its device that captures over 70 per cent of particulate pollution from diesel engines and converts it to black ink and paints.
Another winner Climate Foundation and Tide Technocrats will employ devices that turn rice straw into biochar to enrich agricultural soil and prevent the heavy air pollution in Delhi from rice straw burning.

Mumbai Metro partners Ola for last-mile connectivity * Mumbai Metro One today said it has tied up with taxi aggregator Ola for providing last-mile connectivity option to its commuters on the 11.40-km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) corridor.
This shared air-conditioned taxi service will be launched from October 24 and initially cover three Metro stations - Ghatkopar, Sakinaka and Western Express Highway and will later be expanded to cover all 12 stations on the corridor, the company said in a statement.
