The underlying idea for setting up of the Innovation Hub at National Science Centre in Delhi is to promote scientific, critical thinking and problem solving ability through hands-on activities, a statement said.
A low budget laboratory equipped with several tools and scientific instruments has been set up at the Centre. It will also host an annual innovation festival and invite leading innovators to engage with the youth.
Considering that innovation is the engine of growth in the 21st century, the President has declared 2010 as the 'Decade of Innovation'.
The idea is to create an indigenous model of development based on innovative thinking and practices suited to Indian needs and challenges, the statement added.
The 'Innovation Hub' at the National Science Centre, Delhi, will be inaugurated by the Planning Minister Rajeev Shukla.
The guest of honour on this occasion will be National Innovation Council Chairman & Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations Sam Pitroda.
