Kamrup Senior Superintendent of Police A P Tewari said today that an inquiry would be conducted into the alleged incident in Dispur police station last night.
"We will go through the CCTV footage and ascertain the exact sequence of events and examine what happened inside the police station following which we will take appropriate measures", he said.
The SSP said that those at fault, whether the policemen or mediapersons, "will have to face the consequences."
Several organisations, including All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, media and journalist associations among others have condemned the incident.
