PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss today urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to inspect the regions hit by rains and flood and wanted speeding up of relief operations and enhancement of solatium to each of the affected family to ten lakh rupees.
"Jayalalithaa should inspect the rain affected regions and console the people," he said.
"Relief operations should be expedited by sending ministers to the rain and flood hit areas," he said in a statement. "The financial assistance announced by the government is not adequate, Rs.10 lakh solatium should be given to the families of those killed in rain related incidents," he said.
He also blamed the government "for not taking preventive measures" to contain the impact of rains and flood.
"Though the government says relief operations are on in full swing, (relief) work has not been taken up anywhere," he alleged.
An official release yesterday said, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had directed speeding up of relief measures in Tamil Nadu including Cuddalore District which witnessed heavy rains.
