Inspector arrested for taking Rs 3,000 bribe

: The inspector of Kallupatti police station in the district was arrested today for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from a complainant to return his van as per the orders of a local court.
Acting on a complaint from the van owner officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption set a trap and nabbed the inspector while he was receiving the bribe from the man, police aid.
The van owner's stolen vehicle had been traced to Ambasumudhiram and handed over to the judicial magistrate court, which had ordered police to return it.
However when the owner went to take possession of the van, the inspector demanded the bribe.
