Delhi Police today told a court here that they have received intelligence inputs that alleged gangster Neeraj Bawana, arrested in connection with various cases lodged against him, could be attacked by his rivals during his transportation from jail to court.
Seeking a nod to produce Bawana and his alleged arrested associates before the court through video conferencing, the police said that physical production of these accused before the court could be a security concern.
The application in this regard was filed before Additional Sessions Judge Neena Bansal Krishna by the lock-up incharge of the Patiala House district courts.
However, advocate M S Khan, appearing for Bawana and other accused, opposed the plea contending that he cannot defend his clients properly until and unless he communicated with them, which would not be possible if they are produced through video conferencing.
He argued that when Bawana was being physically produced in Rohini district court here, why can't the police produce him at Patiala House court. He said he would file a reply on the plea filed by police.
Meanwhile, the court fixed October 12 for commencement of arguments on framing of charges in the case in which special cell of Delhi Police has chargesheeted Bawana and nine others, including former MLA Rambeer Shokeen, for allegedly running an organised crime syndicate in the Delhi-NCR region.
