Intense cold wave conditions prevail in HP

Intense cold wave conditions prevailed in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh today as high-altitude tribal areas experienced moderate snowfall, MeT officials said.
Snow and rains occurred at isolated places in mid and lower hills, they said.
Night temperatures remained low. Keylong and Kalpa recordedminus 5.4 degrees Celsius andminus 2.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
Manali recorded a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 4.5 degrees Celsius and Shimla 5 degrees Celsius.
Kalpa and Khadrala received 2 cm of fresh snow and the sky remained partially overcast in the mid and higher hills with strong chilly winds sweeping the region.

Sunni Bhajji was wettest with 12 mm rains while Dharamshala, Baijnath and Banjar received 6 mm rains, followed by Rampur 5 mm , Kheri 4 mm, Bajauraand Rohru 3 mm.
The lower areas saw marginal rise in mercury and Una was hottest during the day with a high of 26.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar at 24.3 degrees Celsius, Solan 23 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 22.4 degrees Celsius, Nahan 21.5 degrees Celsius and Dharmshala 18.8 degrees Celsius.
Rains or snow is likely at isolated places in mid and lower hills from March 21 onwards due to fresh western disturbance in the region, the local MeT office said.
