With maximum temperatures remaining more than 40 degrees Celsius at various places, Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place as its maximum settled at 44.1 deg C, MeT office said.
Bhiwani and Amabla in Haryana sizzled at 44 deg C and 42.8 deg C respectively, increasing by three notches above normal.
However, Narnaul settled at 36.5 deg C, down by 4 notches below normal.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar had a high of 42.4 deg C, two degrees above normal.
Chandigarh saw mercury settling at 43.7 deg C, up by five degrees above normal.
MeT department, in a forecast, said that duststorms or thunderstorms along with light rains may occur at few places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
