Inter-state arms racket bused by Delhi Police, 2 held

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted an inter-state arms syndicate with the arrest of its two key members and recovered 43 sophisticated pistols with 38 magazines from their possession.
According to police, the syndicate used to supply pistols to several areas of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh from three tribal villages in Burhanpur district of MP.
DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that Hari Singh (27), a resident of Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), was the main supplier of the gang while Yogender Singh Rajput (37) used to get supply from the former.
Yadav said that inspector Attar Singh (Special Cell) recently received information that the members of this syndicate including Hari Singh had restarted illegal arms supply to Delhi, Haryana, UP and MP, even though three members of their syndicate were arrested by the same team in September this year.

"On December 15, sub-inspector Jeetendra Tiwari received specific information that Hari Singh would come near bus stop Shantivan in Delhi to deliver a big consignment of illegal pistols to one of his contacts.
"Following the tip-off, a team was sent here. The team arrested him and recovered 20 sophisticated pistols from his possession," the DCP said.

Upon his interrogation, Singh said that he used to sell illegal pistols to small illegal weapon suppliers and various persons of criminal backgrounds in Delhi, Muzaffarnagar, Kairana in UP, Panipat in Haryana and Sagar, Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh.
Police said that Hari Singh paid Rs 15,000 per pistol in MP and sold the same between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per pistol in Delhi, Haryana and UP.

Hari Singh further disclosed that he had supplied 25 pistols to Yogender Singh Rajput five days ago in Sagar, MP. A team was dispatched to Sagar, MP and Yogender Rajput was arrested.
"Hari Singh used to get the supply of illegal weapons about 50 kms away from Burhanpur, MP and many persons in the area of 3 villages namely Pachori, Datepahari, Pangori in Distt. Burhanpur (MP) adjoining to Maharashtra have made small factories to manufacture these illegal arms.
"These villages are in jungle area and inhabited by a particular tribe. They have been indulging in large scale manufacturing of illegal arms. Various machines are being used by these arms manufacturers for making these illegal firearms," police said in a statement.

Pistols manufactured by them are of high quality and sophisticated and it is difficult to differentiate these illegally manufactured pistols from pistols imported from other countries. They send the weapons to Delhi through their carriers, police also said.
"Further investigation to identify and arrest the receivers of weapon and also the main source of supply of these arms is in progress," DCP added.
