Six more cars were seized from Nagpur and Amravati after police recently busted an inter-state racket allegedly involved in the sale of stolen cars.
The six stolen cars were seized last night on the tip-off provided by Sandeep Suresh Lalwani, who was arrested last week when police seized eight high-end vehicles, Sub-Inspector Nilesh Brahmane said today.
Brahmane said there were two gangs operating in Mumbai and New Delhi. Some of the cars were stolen from Mumbai, Noida and Thane which were brought to Western Vidarbha through the link channel and sold to the prospective buyers.
Lalwani confessed to have sold over 30 such stolen vehicles in the last one year, police said.
The gang allegedly bought old cars from scrap dealers, and used their chassis numbers and registration documents to pass off stolen vehicles as legitimately sourced ones.
Further probe into the case was on, police added.
