Facebook posting by some accused in T P Chandrasekhern murder case lodged in Kozhikode jail had triggered a controversy leading to shifting of DGP (prison) Alexander Jacob from the post.
"No illegal activities will be permitted inside prisons and
instructions have been given to authorities to strictly follow guidelines while allowing visitors," Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told reporters here.
On the Facebook postings and finding of mobile phones from Kozhikode prison, Radhakrishnan said probe on the issue was progressing. "Details of phone talks made by accused are being probed", he said.
Radhkrishnan declined to comment on the criticism of the functioning of Home Ministry by K Sudhakaran, a senior Congress MP from Kannur and said "the main job entrusted to me is to maintain law and order and I am doing it". The number of crimes in the state had come down, he pointed out.
In a serious violation of prison rules, some of the accused in the Chandrasekharan murder case had made Facebook postings using their mobile phones. Many of the accused in the case are local CPI(M) workers, apart from hired goons.
